Classic Paris Luxury Tour of Champagne
|
A little more than an hour's drive east of the French capital, this Paris Luxury Tour takes you on an enchanting tour of Champagne: home of the fabled drink, site of one of France's great Gothic cathedrals in Reims, and a countryside that is so cultivated and groomed that you will hardly recognize it as agriculture.  For this Champagne France tour your guide, who speaks native English and who has expert knowledge of Champagne's wine and how it is produced, will collect you from and deliver you to your Paris address, performing your entire Champagne wine tour in an upscale vehicle.
Of the roughly 5,000 producers of champagne wine, our Champagne France tour will take you to two of the finest wine producers in Champagne: Ruinart in Reims and Bollinger in the village of Ay near Epernay. The first visit partly takes place 85 meters underground in Gallo-Roman "crayeres"  (excavations from which the Romans extracted blocks of chalk, with which they built their city). The latter visit offers the most sumptuous and informative champagne tour that we have ever experienced.
Our escorted tour of Champagne can drive you to the Reims Mountain, through the Vallee de la Marne and into the Cote de Blancs. The finest setting for appreciating fine wine is superb regional cuisine, and this Champagne tour offers you a delightful selection of restaurants at which to stop for lunch en route. Choose from a wide selection of charming restaurants, from the modest "Vieux Puits" (Old Wells) country inn at Ay, or perhaps one of the great Michelin-starred Champagne restaurants: the "Grand Cerf" restaurant in Montchenot or the "Royal Champagne" restaurant in Champillon, just outside Epernay, or even the double-starred "Les Crayeres" in Reims.
After your second Champagne house visit, our Classic Champagne Tour drives you to the picture postcard village of Hautvillers, where the monk who 'invented' Champagne lived and worked in its abbey. From there our Classic Champagne Tour provides you with a breath-taking view of some of the finest pinot noir vineyards that slope southward toward Epernay, which you see in the distance. This champagne tour also takes you into the abbey church, where you will visit the tombs of Dom Perignon, and his assistant, Dom Ruinart.
At the end of this Champagne tour, we will drive you through some 30 kilometers of mostly pinot noir vineyards on the south-looking slopes of the Marne Valley. You will admire Veuve Clicquot's Chateau de Boursault from a distance, before our Champagne tour concludes by re-joining the auto-route back to Paris.

Super Paris Luxury Tour of Champagne

 For an even more sumptuous Champagne France tour, let us collect you in a Mercedes 500 sedan and perform your Champagne wine tour in the most luxurious possible way. In addition to the Champagne wine tour details given above, you will be received privately at each of the two Champagne houses that you will visit, and we include in our fee a luncheon that is prepared by a renowned French chef, a meal that is conceived and prepared with the great Champagne wines that will perfectly accompany the meal.

Economic Paris Luxury Tour of Champagne
|
 If you prefer a less pampered approach to discovering the charms of Champagne, then consider this unique Champagne tour, in which you will embark on the adventure of taking the train (France has one of the finest rail networks in the world) from the Paris-Est terminal to Reims, where you will be met at the station by one of the world's most experienced Champagne professionals, who will embark you in an upscale sedan for six hours of Champagne touring in Reims, Ay and Epernay. This Champagne wine tour includes the essentials of the Champagne tour described above.
Your train leaves Paris at 0840, arriving in Reims at 1020 and you return from Epernay, departing at 1719, returning to Paris at 1904. Your train tickets, circa 40 euros per person, are not included in our fee mentioned below, nor are snacks, drinks, meals or any entry fees
For this economic Champagne tour we propose the pleasure of having an inexpensive meal at the delightful Boulingrin Brasserie in Reims, whose authentic Art Deco décor and brasserie fare is as appealing today as it was in 1925, when it was built.
