The Loire Valley Wines Tour

For a Loire wine day tour from Paris, there is no shortage of destinations. We suggest one of two areas: the Vouvray-Montlouis sector next to Tours or the Sancerre-Pouilly area of the Nievre. There is a lot to be said for both.  Either way, this Paris Luxury Tour takes you on a two hour drive from Paris to some of the most attractive and renowned wine producing areas of France, in a delightful day excursion from Paris into the Loire Valley.
A wine-tasting day tour of Sancerre and Pouilly Fume treats you to the pleasures of dry wines made from the sauvignon blanc grape in a limestone-rich terroir that can produce astonishing and rarely-seen complexity for this grape. We take you to such domains as those of Didier Dagueneau near Pouilly sur Loire and Henri Bourgeois in Sancerre. We suggest two tastings in each appellation, separated by a memorable and reasonable country meal, such as at the Cotes de Monts Damnes in Chavignol.
Our tour of Vouvray and Montlouis explores the world of the chenin blanc grape in clay and gravel soil above the 'tuffeau,' near the Loire River, where the wines can be either dry or sweet. We take you to the domains of Prince Poniatowski in Vouvray and Berger or Chidaine in Montlouis; and we recommend a delightful lunch at the seductive l'Arche de Meslay restaurant. As the setting for this tour is in the most romantic and royal part of the Loire, we can limit the wine tastings to two or three, to free some time to also visit a chateau, such as at near-by Amboise, or even Leonardo da Vinci's last home, Le Clos-Luce.
