Normandy D Day Tours

Paris Luxury Tours offers three private Normandy D Day Tours, performed as day tours from Paris. For those interested in the US sector of the D Day invasion, our American Normandy D Day Tours focus on Ste. Mere Eglise, the Pointe du Hoc, Omaha and Utah Beaches and the Colleville sur mer cemetery, which is the largest American cemetery in Normandy.

For those who want to include some of the Canadian and British beaches in their private Normandy D Day Tours we offer our Three Allies Normandy D Day Tours that slightly curtail the US sector to allow including visits along the British (Gold and Sword) and Canadian (Juno) beaches.

We also offer private Normandy D Day tours that focus entirely on the British and/or Canadian Beaches; and we accommodate particular requests such as visits at the German Cemetery at La Cambe. The itineraries provided below are only suggestions. Since all of our Normandy D Day Tours are private services, they can be customized in any way you wish.

What all of our private Normandy D Day Tours have in common is our provision of guides who speak English as their first language and who have expert knowledge of the planning, strategies, key players, and events of Operations Neptune and Overlord, and the Battle of Normandy, which they will relate to you in an informative and compelling way, as they take you to many of the very spots where decisive combat was joined, and the fate of Operation Overlord and the entire second world war hung in the balance.

Our guides also have extensive knowledge of the history and culture of Normandy and France, dating back to Druid, Celtic and Roman eras, so we can orient you to the complete context of what you see in Normandy, as well as World War Two, as it played out in Normandy in June, 1944.

Our guides are expert drivers who are professionally licensed by the French state, and they drive our clients in upscale vehicles. Since all of our escorted Normandy D Day Tours are private services, our clients can modify their itineraries at will at any time. We have made every effort to moderate the cost of our private Normandy D Day tour services, but they do cost more than grouped tours.

American Normandy D Day Tours

Our American Normandy D Day Tours collect our clients early in the morning in Paris and drive them directly to Ste Mere Eglise, the town where Private Steele's parachute caught on the town church steeple. This US sector D Day tour includes a stop at the Airborne Museum, devoted to the role of American paratroopers in the D Day invasion, one of the best of the nearly 60 museums related to Operation Overlord that are strewn along the Normandy D Day coastline.

The next stage of our American Normandy D Day Tours includes a drive along Utah Beach and a stop to view the memorials on top of a bunker overlooking the beach. We suggest stopping for lunch in Grandcamp Maisy, before proceeding on to the Pointe du Hoc, which was scaled by Col. Rudder's Rangers. We then continue this US sector Normandy D Day Tour with a drive along Omaha Beach and a visit at one of the German bunkers that is largely intact and overlooking the beach, WN62, which today is covered with memorials to many of the soldiers who fell victim to its guns.

We conclude our American Normandy D Day Tours with a visit at the Colleville sur mer cemetery, one of the most eloquent and poignant sights along the Normandy Beaches. We also include a visit at its Interpretation Center, which is filled with fascinating multimedia that evoke the horror and unimaginable sacrifice of June 6, 1944. We then drive back to Paris, normally dropping you there at about eight pm.

Three Allies Normandy D Day Tours

To include the British and Canadian beaches in our Normandy D Day Tours from Paris, we forego visiting Ste. Mere Eglise and Utah Beach. We start with the Pointe du Hoc and Omaha Beach and the Colleville sur mer cemetery as described above. For lunch we recommend stopping at Port en Bessin, focus of Operation Pluto, before proceeding into the Gold Beach sector, stopping first at Longues sur mer to see the long range German artillery battery that still retains its original guns. We then drive on to Arromanches les Bains, site of Port Winston, one of the two Mulberry ports, which is largely intact. There our Three Allies Normandy D Day Tours visit the Debarkation Museum in Arromanches, which is devoted to ingenuity of the Allies in solving the logistics of supplying an invasion force of up to 850,000 men who landed in Normandy by the end of June, 1944.

Our Three Allies Normandy D Day Tours then proceed along Juno Beach to reach Sword Beach, where we stop in Ouistreham at the Great Bunker, a German fire control tower that directed a powerful artillery battery, which is maintained today as it was at the time of the invasion. The final stop in our Three Allies Normandy D Day Tours is Pegasus Bridge, captured at such sacrifice by British paratroopers, at the extreme eastern end of the theater of operations of the Normandy D Day invasion.

British and/or Canadian Normandy D Day Tours

For those clients who want a day tour from Paris of the Normandy D Day beaches that focuses only on the British and/or Canadian Beaches, we provide Normandy D Day Tours from Paris that include visits that focus on Port Winston and the Debarkation Museum at Arromanches, the Canadian Juno Beach Center, and the haunting Canadian Cemetery at Beny-sur-Mer, or the British Cemeteries at Banneville la Campagne and/or Douvre la Delivrande, the Great Bunker in Ouistreham, as well as the Café Gondrée, the first building liberated in the invasion. We can conclude this British/Canadian Normandy D Day Tour with a visit at the Pegasus Memorial Museum, which is devoted to the exploits of British paratroopers in Operations Tonga and Overlord. Let us know your specific interests, and we will design your private Normandy D Day Tour to perfectly match your requirements.

Overnight Normandy D Day Tours

There is so much to see that is related to Operations Neptune and Overlord and the Battle of Normandy that the ideal choice for complete Normandy D Day Tours are multi-day tours that consist of one or two overnights and two or three days of touring. Multi-day Normandy D Day Tours also give you the luxury of including sites in Normandy that are not related to D Day in your itinerary, such as: the Bayeux Tapestry, Mont St Michel Abbey, Honfleur, Giverny or Rouen.
